From time to time I bump into
someone who speaks about how they “discovered” St. John’s: a chance detour up
Floral Avenue, a community event on our grounds, or the first time on the
Garden Tour. I am regaled with comments
about the verdant beauty of our setting, the wonderful playground, or the warm
hospitality experienced. For such folks
our church is a “Place of Discovery”.
Similar sentiments are expressed when people connect more deeply with
our congregational life. Discoveries
are made of greater opportunities to serve in Christ’s name, of stronger
connections with a community of faith that supports and sustains, and of deeper
knowledge and experience of God in worship and spiritual growth.
This is an invitation to know St. John’s to truly be a Place of
Discovery. Here you will find many
opportunities to enter more deeply into what God is doing at our parish,
whether it be worship and spiritual growth, fellowship with one another in
Christ, or reaching out to those in need in Jesus’ name. May this parish be a Place of Discovery for you.
Grace and Peace,
Fr. Richard Yale
